   Drive across town to the west side of Las Vegas and check out Red Rock Canyon. This scenic landmark offers steep scarlet stone walls and plenty of little nooks and crannies to explore in your own time. Come around sunrise or sunset to see these rocks glow with a light of their own.
10. Go to The Strip
    When in Rome, do as the Romans do. You’d be cheating yourself if you didn’t head to downtown Las Vegas at least once while living in Henderson. Day Trips From Henderson, Nevada

1. Death Valley National Park
   Don’t let the name scare you. Though this park is extreme in nearly every way, it is a violently beautiful place. It’ll take about two and a half hours on the road to get here, but when you do, you’ll never want to leave. Hike up to Telescope Peak to take in the valley all at once or explore the valley floor and discover one of the most inhospitable places on Earth.
2. Go Rafting On The Colorado River
   Lake Mead is the Colorado River, so if you’re looking to raft a little farther downstream, Henderson is the city for you. Several companies operate out of Las Vegas and Henderson that offer guided rafting and kayaking trips on the Colorado. Adventure is waiting for you on one of America’s wildest rivers.
3. Visit the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument
   This often-overlooked National Monument might become one of your favorite places to visit while living in Henderson. Not nearly as crowded as the rest of the Grand Canyon area, and arguably more diverse, the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument offers a dynamic landscape full of famous wild animals and plant life. Come in the summer for your traditional desert environment, or venture out in the winter after it snows and watch how a seemingly alien landscape can quickly become all-too familiar. It might take more than a day to really appreciate this National Monument, as it’s over a four-drive away from Henderson, but we promise the drive is worth it every single time.
