VERY IMPORTANT – winter access is via snowmobile or snow cat only. The Forest Service closes the road 4 miles out and prepares a parking area for residents. Many people use their homes as a summer escape from the heat while a handful of hardy souls do year-round living up in Lost Valley. Some families come up for a few winter getaways – especially for the holidays. There are people who work full-time in Pagosa Springs and manage to make it work but it’s not for the faint of heart. Snowmobile and 4-Wheeler included in the sale to make the transition complete! This is a 30-minute drive from downtown so plan accordingly.
