A unique, undivided parcel of land historically part of the ''Town Pound'' with varied topography at the edge of the Village of Columbia Falls that encloses the tidewater estuary where the freshwater & salt water meet to allow the wild Atlantic Salmon, Alewifes, Smelt & American eels to transition for their journey into the fresh water of the Pleasant River (Wescogus - Mi'kmak). Only a short distance from the estuary, the subject property has approximately 2, 000 feet of frontage on the river. My late friend, Dr. Coman wrote a book about his love affair with this small river that I consider to be much more than fish stories - more like what I would call Thoreau Ish. I believe his book can tell you far more than I can begin to describe in the limited space here and this 48 acres, more of less is extra special due to the special river involved . Not just a great place for a home with privacy, but an opportunity for a spiritual connection with the natural world and our planet. Plus, I'll share a little known fact with you about the community where the FIRST woman attorney in Maine and New England lived when she was admitted to the Bar in 1872 at Machias. And, in all probability she & her attorney husband may have had the FIRST husband & wife legal office in the United States! Her name was CLARA HAPGOOD NASH, ESQ. In honor of Mrs. Nash & Dr. Coman, I am reaching out in hopes of connecting with a mind or minds that will blend with that of Dr. Coman & Mrs. Nash who share similar values regarding conservation and history. We all have a desire to protect a wonderful river and the community it flows through. It will please the owner, if I am successful in my efforts.
